Joel 2 Solemn Assemblies
The book of Joel tells us that after a major locust plague had devastated Israel, the people were warned that another crisis would strike if they did not gather to pray and repent. All of the people assembled, wept, and prayed, and God withheld further judgment. In other words, the people's repentant hearts and intercession averted disaster and changed the course of history.
We know that our prayers move God to action. This is a time in which America is quickly becoming more and more godless, and we know that God will not allow our decadence to continue forever. Therefore, we cry out to God in an hour of crisis, laying aside our normal lives and routines for a little while to ask him to turn the tide of wickedness in our land. We repent on behalf of our nation for sin. We ask for revival. We ask God to make Hampton Roads into a "city of refuge."
On the first Thursday of each month at 7:00pm, we will gather in the Prayer Room at LHOP for a Joel 2 Solemn Assembly. For two hours, we will cry out to God through worship, prayer, and prophetic song. If you are an LHOP keeper, or simply a person who cares about the fate of our nation and region, please join us.
Joel 2: 13-14a "Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing. . ."
